Looking at France from the inside for an English person takes some getting used to, the right of protest is part of the french psyche, and happens frequently whilst life goes on around the protesters.

The march on 18/08/2025 passed Rue Paul Riquet in Béziers, where my shared atelier is, at number 11.
I painted this, from a photograph I took, almost immediately after the manifestation had passed by.
I could feel the noise of the protesters and was pleased I managed to keep the immediacy and movement in my marks
